Why This Update Even Matters
Before Campaign Grouping, campaign setup was heavily reliant on Meritto’s support teams or default logic:
- Traffic Channels were hardcoded
- Publishers were centrally managed by Meritto
- Institutes could not create, rename, or reorganize campaign sources on their own
- Any attribution clean-up = support ticket
Now with Campaign Grouping:
- Campaign Management becomes fully self-serve
- Attribution logic is customizable per institute
- Reporting, filtering, and automation can finally match your marketing reality
What Changes in Campaign Management?
You Now Manage Publishers Locally
Earlier | Now |
Publishers were global and Meritto-managed | Each institute has its own set of publishers |
Common source tags like Shiksha, instituteDunia were shared across all | You can create/edit tags per your requirement |
Request changes via ticket | Do it directly from UI in Campaign Grouping Tab |
Traffic Channels Are No Longer Fixed
You can now:
- Rename traffic channels
- Create new custom channels (up to 30)
- Assign publishers/referrers to any channel (within rules)
Earlier Channel | Editable? | Now |
Paid Ads | ❌ No | ✅ Fully Editable |
Publishers, Offline, Other Campaigns | ❌ No | ✅ Flexible |
Direct, Chat, Referral | ❌ No | ✅ Fully Editable |
More Granular Attribution Control
You're no longer bound by:
- One-size-fits-all logic
- Fixed campaign labels
- Central publisher definitions
Now you define:
- What counts as a “traffic channel” or “publisher/referrer”
- How each utm_source gets mapped
- How leads are bucketed across dashboard views
This means your Campaign Dashboard, Admin Dashboard, and Filters will reflect exactly how your team runs marketing.
Direct Impact on Attribution Reporting
Action You Take | Result |
Move a publisher from “Other Campaigns” to “Paid Ads” | Attribution numbers update in reports |
Add new publishers for new agencies | No need to wait for support |
Sync after editing source tags | Past + future leads are re-attributed |
Use Offline toggle smartly | Lead Origin = Offline leads move to Offline Channel |
Role-based Access Control (New Behavior)
You control who in your team can:
- View Campaign Grouping Settings (newly added)
- Edit Campaign Grouping Settings (newly added)
- Just access Campaign Management Settings (Earlier Campaign Tracking Settings)
Permission Combo | What They Can Do |
View + Edit | Full access to the Campaign Grouping tab |
View only | Tab is visible, but not editable |
❌ View & ❌ Edit but Campaign Tracking | Only legacy Campaign Management settings are shown |
Impact on Lead Attribution
All edits to publishers or traffic channels trigger a “Save & Sync Leads” step.
This updates attribution across:
- Campaign Dashboards
- Admin Filters
- Automation Rules (where used)
- Publisher Panels (if enabled)
Notes:
- Removing source tags means leads with that tag will no longer match the publisher
- Reassigning a publisher moves it across channels — it impacts filters and reporting views
- Disabling a channel moves all its publishers to Unclassified
