How to Create a Publisher/Referrer?
- Use this when you’re adding a new marketing source — like a new aggregator, partner, or campaign platform.
- Steps:
- Go to Settings → Campaign Management → Campaign Grouping
- Expand the Traffic Channel(s) accordion by clicking on Ⓥ
- Open the Traffic Channel accordion under which you want to create the publisher/referrer by clicking on Ⓥ
- Pop-up the Custom Publisher/Referrer(s) accordion by clicking on Ⓥ
- Click on ➕ "Add Publisher/Referrer"
- A modal will appear to allow you to add
- Publisher Name
- It is mandatory to add a unique name and it can have a maximum of 100 characters in length
- Source Tags (utm_source values like shiksha, siksha, etc.).
- Please note, these must be unique. That is, if you add a source tag to 1 publisher/referrer it cannot be reused in other active publishers/referrers unless the existing publisher/referrer is disabled or the source tag is removed from here.
- Try adding as many variations as possible to account for spelling errors. However, make sure you only add those source tags which aren’t required for any other publisher/referrer
- Logo, URL (optional)
- Associated Traffic Channel.
- Please note:
- Only active Traffic Channels shall be shown in the list.
- Unclassified Traffic Channel won’t be visible when you are creating publisher/referrer in any other Traffic Channel except Unclassified > Custom Publishers/Referred
- Please note:
- Bucket leads from offline lead origin separately
- Use this, only if you want to see the leads coming via offline uploads (Quick Lead, Bulk Upload)
- Publisher Type - Campaign Group or Publisher
- If you want to give a Publisher Panel access based on this Publisher/Referrer, then select Publisher Type as “Publisher”
- If you do not want to give a Publisher Panel access based on this Publisher/Referrer, then select Publisher Type as “Campaign Group”
- Send Custom Email And SMS
- This allows you to send Publisher specific email templates (it is recommended to keep it disabled)

- Once you added all the details, click on Save
- Click on Yes to continue and No to cancel
- Review the impact and type Create & Sync All Leads to create
- The newly created Publisher/Referrer will appear in your active publisher/referrer list for the associated Traffic Channel
Result:
- Publisher gets created with mapped source tags
- Leads with those source values now attribute to this publisher. That is, all the existing and incoming leads with the matching utm_source will start getting classified under this Publisher/Referrer
- Publisher/Referrer is now visible across dashboards (if there are leads already present with the matching source tags)
- All the added source tags are re-routed under the new publisher/referrer
How to Edit a Publisher/Referrer?
- Use this to correct a name, update tags, change traffic channel, or tweak offline toggle.
- Steps:
- Go to Settings → Campaign Management → Campaign Grouping
- Expand the Traffic Channel(s) accordion by clicking on Ⓥ
- Open the Traffic Channel accordion under which you want to create the publisher/referrer by clicking on Ⓥ
- Pop-up the Custom Publisher/Referrer(s) accordion by clicking on Ⓥ
- Find the publisher/referrer you want to edit
- Click the Edit icon (✏) next to the publisher/referrer
- For Custom Publishers, you can edit:
- Publisher Name
- Logo
- Source Tags
- Associated Traffic Channel
- Offline Toggle
- Send Custom Email And SMS
- Publisher Type - Campaign Group or Publisher
- For System Publishers, you can edit:
- Associated Traffic Channel
- For Not Mapped, Others, or Source Not Set → They won’t be visible
- Associated Traffic Channel
- Once you have made the changes, click on Save
- If the publisher/referrer is linked to active ERP, automation, allocation rules, you won’t be able to make the changes
- Click on Yes to continue and No to cancel
- Review the impact and type Save Publisher & Update All Leads to create
- If you have made changes to source tags and/or associated traffic channel, your leads shall also be resync retrospectively
Result:
- All leads associated with newly added source tags, if any, for the Publisher/Referrer will be updated
- All leads associated with removed source tags, if any, shall be updated to show Publisher/Referrer under as “Not Mapped”
- Counts of both edited “Publisher/Referrer” as well as “Not Mapped” will be updated as per the changes made if source tags are updated
- Counts and data for any publisher user associated with the edited “Publisher/Referrer” will be updated as per the changes made if source tags are updated
How to Disable a Publisher/Referrer?
- Use this to clean up unused, outdated, or deprecated publishers.
- Steps:
- Go to Settings → Campaign Management → Campaign Grouping
- Expand the Traffic Channel(s) accordion by clicking on Ⓥ
- Open the Traffic Channel accordion under which you want to create the publisher/referrer by clicking on Ⓥ
- Pop-up the Custom Publisher/Referrer(s) accordion by clicking on Ⓥ
- Find the publisher/referrer you want to disable
- Click on Disable icon next to the publisher under Status
- You will be asked if you want to retain attribution for leads till date
- Select “Yes” only if you want to give attribution to the current publisher/referrer till date.
- In such case, existing leads will continue to give attribution to the disabled publisher/referrer
- Select “No” if you want to make retrospective changes for leads.
- In such case, existing leads will no longer give attribution to the disabled publisher/referrer
- Select “Yes” only if you want to give attribution to the current publisher/referrer till date.
- You will be asked to reassign your source tags to another existing publisher/referrer.
- If you do not have anything specific in mind, add them to “Not Mapped”
- Selecting “Not Mapped” allows you to reuse your source tags in future in any other publisher/referrer together or separately
- If you select another Publisher/referrer (except Not Mapped), then all the existing source tags will be transferred to the selected publisher/referrer
- If you do not have anything specific in mind, add them to “Not Mapped”
- Click on Yes to continue and No to cancel
- Review the impact and type Deactivate Publisher & Retain Leads to disable and retain leads (No impact on leads associated with the publisher/referrer till date)
- Review the impact and type Deactivate Publisher & Do Not Retain Leads to disable and not retain leads (this impacts leads associated with the publisher/referrer till date)
- If the publisher/referrer is linked to active ERP, automation, allocation rules, you won’t be able to disable it. The system will alert you to resolve dependencies first.
- If it is not linked, based on your action, your existing leads will be synced (in case of Do not Retain)
Result:
- All existing leads associated with disabled Publisher/Referrer will be updated (if you selected “No” when asked for retention)
- New leads will fall into the selected publisher/referrer (irrespective of your retention choice)
- Disabled Publisher/Referrer shall be removed from all dashboards, reports and filters (if you chose “No” when asked for retention)
- Lead/Application/Payment counts of selected publisher/referrer will be updated (if you chose “No” when asked for retention)
- Any Publisher user associated with the disabled Publisher will lose access to Publisher Panel
How to Reactivate a Publisher/Referrer?
- Use this if a disabled publisher is needed again.
- Steps:
- Go to Settings → Campaign Management → Campaign Grouping
- Expand the Traffic Channel(s) accordion by clicking on Ⓥ
- Open the Traffic Channel accordion under which you want to create the publisher/referrer by clicking on Ⓥ
- Pop-up the Custom Publisher/Referrer(s) accordion by clicking on Ⓥ
- Click on View Inactive Publisher/Referrer(s) to get the list of inactive publishers
- Scroll down to “Disabled Publishers/Referrers” section at the bottom
- Find the Publisher/Referrer you want to reactivate
- It will open the Publisher/Referrer in edit mode
- Any conflicting tags shall be highlighted. Resolve them to proceed
- Making any other changes, if needed
- Click on Save
- Click on Yes to continue and No to cancel
- Review the impact and type Activate & Sync All Leads to reactivate
The Publisher/Referrer will be back in active use and visible in dashboards, filters and reports again.
