What Are Messaging Limits?
Messaging limits define the maximum number of business-initiated conversations your business phone number can start within a 24-hour period. These conversations include sending marketing, utility, or service templates.
At the start, each business phone number is limited to 250 business-initiated conversations per day. However, this limit can be gradually increased based on business performance and message quality.
The available messaging limits are:
- 1,000 conversations/day
- 10,000 conversations/day
- 100,000 conversations/day
- Unlimited conversations/day
Methods to Increase Messaging Limits

Achieve 1K Conversations
To increase your messaging limit to 1,000 conversations per day, you can follow one of these steps:

Business Verification: Verify your business with Meta. Once approved, Meta will evaluate the quality of your messaging. If your messages meet the quality standard, you’ll be eligible for a limit increase.

Identity Verification: You may be required to verify your identity if you haven't already. This step ensures that Meta can accurately assess your business’s eligibility for a limit increase.

Open 1K Conversations in 30 Days: Open 1,000 or more high-quality business-initiated conversations within a 30-day window. Meta will analyze your messaging behavior and increase your limit based on its assessment.

To maintain or increase your limits, sending high-quality messages is essential. Here are some best practices:

Follow the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy: Ensure all messages comply with WhatsApp’s guidelines.

Send messages to opted-in users only: Avoid sending unsolicited messages to users.

Automatic Scaling
After reaching the 1K messaging limit, automatic scaling may increase your limit further. Meta evaluates your phone number based on:-

Messaging activity: If your business-initiated conversations in the last 7 days reach 50% or more of your current limit or 80% open rate over a rolling 7-day period, Meta may automatically increase your messaging tier.

For example, if you initiate 500 conversations in 2 days and have a 1K limit, your limit can increase to 10K after 24 hours.
* If the 500th conversation is opened at 3 pm (for example), the messaging limit is increased at 3 pm the following day (i.e. 24 hours later).
Reaching Your Messaging Limit
Once you hit your messaging limit for the day, new conversations can only be initiated when existing ones end. This ensures you stay within your limit but also allows for continuous communication once conversations close.
