If you have a good reputation, your email is more likely to get delivered and land in inbox. If not, then the emails delivery might be hampered.

Shared IP address

A shared IP address means that several companies or email senders are using the same IP within one mail server. In other words, one IP address is being used by more than one sender.

Here are some things to consider with a shared IP:

No reputation control: With a shared IP address, your reputation depends on the email practices of every single sender using that IP. Basically, this means that the other senders’ bad email practices will affect your reputation too, even if you’re following all best practices.

Volume of emails: If the volume of your emails is not huge, it might not be a right decision to get a dedicated IP considering the cost being involved for getting a dedicated IP. Additionally, ISPs like to see consistent sending patterns, so if you don’t have high enough activity levels for a dedicated IP, this could impact your reputation and result in poor email delivery rates.

Cost: Cost of shared IP is economical. 

Dedicated IP address

Dedicated IP addresses, on the other hand, enable you to be the only one accountable for your reputation, which cannot be affected by other senders’ email marketing activities.

Complete reputation control: With a dedicated IP address, the sender reputation is in your complete control. Activities of other sender does not impact your email delivery.
